Increase efficiency and help your bottom line

Having spent the majority of my 20’s in the San Francisco startup scene I would hear the crazy tales of what other companies were spending their investment money on for employee perks.

Unfortunately or fortunately I never got a chance to experience the madness of post-funding or acquisition. Call me crazy, but the best part of startup life was making nothing and working like a madman 98% of the time.

But, when I saw that Clif Bar and EventBrite were offering on-site Chiropractic for their teams my head nearly exploded.

That’s awesome and it makes sense.

  1. We know studies support on-site Chiropractic
  2. We know it will make the team optimized
  3. We know it will reduce sick days

Employing an on-site Chiropractor will help increase productivity and reduce costs associated with running a startup.

“At Clif Bar, we have an onsite, full service gym complete with a bouldering wall and group fitness classes such as yoga, spin, dance and boot camp.  Personal trainers are ready to help you get in shape for the first time, train for a triathlon, or just inspire you to mix-up your current routine. Massage therapists, an acupuncturist and a chiropractor focus on keeping everything in top physical order, while several nutritional counselors and life coaches help maintain a good nutritional and mental foundation.”

It’s no surprise that Fortune magazine wrote about Clif Bar’s climb to the top of America’s workplaces

Chiropractic for Stress

Working at a startup can be more stressful than going through bankruptcy and divorce at the same time, trust me.

Chiropractors work primarily with the spine – the root of the nervous system through which nerve impulses travel between the brain and the rest of the body – and can help the body manage and process this stress in a healthier way.

Chiropractic for Headaches and Posture

75% of your time at a Startup is spent hunched over in front of your Mac.

Most headaches are related to muscle tension in the neck, which is an increasingly common condition among Americans who spend hours in the same position or posture (such as in front of a computer or television), leading to joint irritation and tension in the upper back and scalp that cause headaches.

Chiropractic for the Immune System

Back in October of  2011 my sales team and I went on a run. I nearly killed myself. I developed a weird eye infection and severe pneumonia.

Guess what I wasn’t doing because I was so busy? Yep, getting adjusted.

It’s important to note here how the endocrine system also impacts the immune system by producing cortisol in the adrenal glands – endocrine glands that are directly connected to the nervous system through the sympathetic nervous system – a stress hormone that inhibits the immune system.

If the sympathetic nervous system is too “switched on” due to stress and subluxation, it can increase the adrenal glands’ synthesis of cortisol, in turn affecting the immune system..

I would love to really know how the companies wellness vs. sickness statistics changed along with their productivity and overall employee satisfaction once they incorporated Chiropractic and what their employee utilization rates are. I’ve wanted to develop something similar for a while. Why not on site? It’s awesome!
