My Practice Fatal Flaws (Pt 1)

A few months into starting practice
I had a very profitable month.
I wanted to reward myself
and knew of a high-end local retailer.
I knew what I wanted
and walked in with the exact amount
of cash tucked into my pocket excited to make the purchase.
But when I walked in and let the
manager know, he replied:Wait…think about it for a few days…
and make sure it’s for you first”.

Wow…

I had never experienced being denied
a purchase I really wanted!
But it didn’t get me upset or
not want it anymore…
it made me want it even more.
And since then, I have bought it 3-4 times over.
What’s the point?

That manager wasn’t needy.

He didn’t need my business at all.

And then what he was selling became
so much more attractive to me.

Now letsbe clear:

I am not endorsing what this manager did
as a “tactic” or “script” to use in your practice.

Rather it’s a model of who he was
being and his un-needy energy.
It’s essential in business.
Lots of chiropractors come off as
“needing” their new patient in the first couple visits.
We’re taught to be that way.

I understand it.

We always need new patients coming in the door.
BUT – if a new patient senses this energy
your service loses it’s value entirely.
If neediness is in your mind at all
you can bet the new patient senses it.
And a patient who feels you need them more than they need you…
Is GONE.
So what’s the most attractive way
you can be with a new patient?
Un-needy. 
But NOT: Careless, uninterested, or arrogant…

Rather:

You care SO MUCH about your service AND the patient
that you’re not willing to sacrifice their best recommendations…

Can you come off with that energy?
There’s no one exact script for this.

It’s a mentality.It’s a way of being.

I show DCs easy ways to establish this, but:

And then when you’re seeing more
patients than you even need to and not concerned about your finances:
You’ll truly not “need” the next great referral who shows up.

And then they’ll want to tell others about you.

And the cycle continues.
